The DDF Fundamentals program is a one-week virtual summer program for novice policy debaters. Throughout this program, rising freshman and novice policy debaters will be introduced to the world of policy debate. Lab leaders, Ravi Parikh and Eva Egozi will guide debaters through understanding every policy debate argument from Topicality to Kritik's and everything in between. Over this week, students will experience introductory lectures to the 2024-2025 policy debate resolution, learn how to do basic policy debate research, and observe high quality demo debates.

Mahi Shah is an incoming freshman at the University of Pennsylvania who plans to compete in Policy Debate with Dartmouth College. She served as captain of the policy debate team at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools for two years and competed at a national level. She received first speaker at the TOC, among many other successfull debate performances!
Raleigh Maxwell is an incoming freshman at Emory University who plans to compete for Emory's Barkley Forum. He served as the captain of his policy debate team at Montgomery Bell Academy and competed at a national level throughout high school. He is a two-time TOC finalist and has made it to the finals and late elims of many tournaments!
Aaron Kim is an incoming Junior at Emory University who has been competing with the Barkley Forum for two years. He competed at a national level throughout high school and continues to remain involved in the debate community, coaching debaters across the country.

Michael Ross is a rising senior at Berkeley Prep. He's been debating for four years and serves as the co-captain of the Berkeley team. He is a two-time TOC Quarterfinalist and has had notable success at many other tournaments.

He is a founding faculty member at the School for Civic Life and Leadership at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he teaches rhetoric and public speaking, and conducts research on the theory and practice of persuasive public argument. He is also an author of four books and multiple articles on persuasion, a subject matter expert on strategic communication, messaging and public speaking, and a fellow at Johns Hopkins University's SNF Agora Institute. He debated for the University of Redlands, and he has coached for Emory, Northwestern, and Harvard, among many other schools.
