Policy debate focuses on a national annual resolution. A team of two will debate both sides of an interesting and controversial proposition for the entire season, which includes constructive argument, cross examination, and refutation. Policy debate is done on both national and local circuits, and some students have the ability to travel all around the United States to compete. Additionally, policy debate requires constructing complex research briefs that advocate for both sides of the resolution. Consequently, students will become skilled in research, policy analysis, case construction, refutation, cross examination, organization, and communication.
